MINNOWS - Age:  3 months to 3 years
This is a fantastic age for your baby or toddler to start water familiarisation and nurture independence.  The primary focus is to teach the children to be safe in the water and if they fall in the water to get themselves back to side of the pool.  We use songs and play games to develop water confidence and prepare them for “clownfish stage”.  Children will be separated into 3 different age groups. 5 months – 11months, 12months - 18months and 18months – 36months.  They will be able to enter the Clownfish program from 30mths if the swim teacher feels they are ready.

  • Assisted Submersion
  • Assisted Back Float
  • Assisted Momentum Back to Side of Pool

Class sizes are a maximum of 8 and will be 30mins duration. A parent or guardian is required in the pool with the child.


GOLDFISH - Age: 3-5 years
This level is for children who have completed the Minnow program or have been assessed as beginners. We continue to develop the child’s water familiarisation and safety and start them on the path to becoming strong confident swimmers. The children will further develop floating techniques and body positions both front and back.  Kicking and breathing skills will be introduced.

OUTCOMES

  • Assisted Rockets with Kicking and Big Bubbles
  • Unassisted Back Float
  • Unassisted Momentum Back to Side of Pool

their young swimmers. Classes are 30mins duration

CLOWNFISH - Age: 2-5 years
Clownfish is for children that have advanced their skills.  There is a continuation of water safety but more focus on the swimming component.  They will be taught on unassisted rockets and will be introduced to breathing techniques and arm movements.

OUTCOMES

  • Unassisted Rockets with Kicking and Big Bubbles
  • Front Float with Bubbles
  • Big Arms with Kick Board and Bubble, Bubble Breath

their young swimmers. Classes are 30mins duration


MANTARAYS
This level is for children who have progressed from clownfish or have skills relevant. The children will learn basic freestyle and streamline body positions with and without kickboards. They will be introduced to breathing techniques and simple turn techniques.  Backstroke and Breaststroke will also be introduced.  They will be able to swim 8m of freestyle with correct body position and breathing unaided.

OUTCOMES

  • Swim 8 meters of Catchup Freestyle Unaided with Correct Breathing
  • Backstroke Arms or
  • Breastroke Kick with Board 8 Meters
  • Do a Somersault

BARRACUDAS
This level is for children who have progressed from “mantarays” or have been assessed to have the relevant skills. The children will advance their freestyle and be able to swim 12 metres no catch-up and will learn the basics of a tumble turn.  Backstroke and Breaststroke arms will be introduced as well as butterfly skills (kick).  Students will need to be competent in only one of the other competitive strokes to advance.

OUTCOMES

  • Swim 12-15 meters of Freestyle (no catch-up) Unaided With Correct Breathing
  • Swim 12-15 meters of Backstroke or Breaststroke Unaided with Correct Technique
  • Do 12 meters of Butterfly Kick Under Water and On Back, Ankles and Knees Together with No Freestyle Kick
  • Perform a Basic Tumble Turn (Feet on Wall Only)

Class sizes are a maximum of 5 and a parent or guardian is required poolside to supervise and encourage their young swimmers. Classes are 30mins duration


MARLINS
This level is for children who have progressed from “barracudas” or can demonstrate correct relevant techniques. The children will continue to develop freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.  Students will be introduced to butterfly arms and diving.  They will be able perform a basic dive and swim 15m freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke and 10m butterfly.

OUTCOMES

  • Streamline and Kick All Strokes 15 meters +
  • Swim 15 meters + of Freestyle, Backstroke and Breastroke
  • Swim 10 - 15 meters of Butterfly with Correct Technique
  • Perform Basic Dive and Tumble Turn (Feet on Wall and Push Off)

Class sizes are a maximum of 5 and a parent or guardian is required poolside to supervise and encourage their young swimmers.  30 mins duration


SQUAD SWIMMING
Squad swimming is for swimmers who have completed the learn to swim program and wish to progress or have the swimming technique and wish to increase general  speed and fitness to competition standard if desired.  Please refer to the Squad Program page.

 

ADULT LEARN TO SWIM CLASSES

From absolute beginners to people who can swim but feel they require some coaching and/or stroke corrections. All initial classes are done in the Learn to Swim pool to develop confidence. Sessions are $20 for 20 minutes or $30 for 30 minutes and are limited to a maximum of 3 persons per session. Please contact us for further information.
